Tech analyst Dan Ives says investors are underestimating the spending plans.
An early bull on some of the biggest names in tech and artificial intelligence, analyst Dan Ives has laid out his top sector ideas headed into 2027.
In a brief post on X, Ives identified his top tech plays "into 2027": Nvidia (NVDA), Microsoft (MSFT), Palantir Technologies (PLTR), Apple (AAPL) and CrowdStrike (CRWD).
"In our view, investors underestimating the scale and scope of this $4 trillion spending wave [for the] next few years," he wrote.
If those names are familiar, it's because he recommended them at his previous employer for eight years, Wedbush Securities, where he was global head of technology research.
Ives now is a partner and senior managing director at merchant bank Yorkville Ives, which he helped launch earlier this year.
MarketWatch has reached out to Yorkville Ives for further comment.
His latest call coincides with a comeback for Magnificent 7 stocks after a struggle for those earlier this year. The group helped push the S&P 500 SPX to its first record high since Aug. 13 on Tuesday, while the Roundhill Magnificent Seven ETF MAGS and Nasdaq Composite COMP booked their second straight record closing highs. The Magnificent 7 comprises Google parent Alphabet (GOOGL), Apple (AAPL), Amazon (AMZN), Nvidia (NVDA), Microsoft (MSFT), Meta (META) and Tesla (TSLA).
Ives, who also launched a colorful clothing line last year, is closely followed as one of the most well-known and bullish tech analysts. In 2023, he declared Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang the "Godfather of AI," and Palantir (PLTR) the "Messi of AI," referring to soccer star Lionel Messi. Those shares have since seen exponential gains.
The best-performing stock of the five this year has been cybersecurity group CrowdStrike, which has soared 138% over worries about too-powerful AI models. Elsewhere, performances have reflected a mixed and challenging year for technology and the AI trade, with Apple up 22%, Microsoft stock is up 9%, Palantir up 8% and Tesla down 15%. Nvidia has gained 28% this year.
Last month, the analyst launched the Ives Ultra AI Opportunities Inc. closed-end fund (IVAI), which invests in late-stage, privately held AI and AI infrastructure companies.
He also has two ETFs in his name - the Dan IVES Wedbush AI Revolution ETF IVES, which launched in 2025, and one that made its debut earlier this year, the Dan IVES Wedbush AI Power & Infrastructure ETF IVEP.
